Best Destinations in England to go Camping

Camping_at_larch_hill

As someone who has been on camping trips throughout Europe, I can honestly say that there is nowhere quite like England to camp out under the stars. Whilst I may not have been everywhere in the UK, or in England for that matter, the places that I have visited have been some of the very best of all the places that I have camped. Rather than drill down into which campsites I live the most, I thought it would make more sense to speak about the very best destinations which I have visited, as many of them have some fine camp sites. Without further ado then, here are the best destinations in England if you want to take a camping trip.

Cornwall

I fell in love with Cornwall as a small boy, far before I began trying out some of its incredible campsites. There is so much to love about this county in south west England, its beaches, that coastline, the quaint fishing villages and towns and the acres upon acres of untouched forest. There is so much to do here for all the family, from woodland adventures to seaside activities. The campsites in Cornwall are plentiful and vary wildly in their style but I must confess, there is one campsite which I absolutely adore, and it is one that keeps drawing me back to Cornwall, here are the details if you want to see what I am talking about.

Lake District

The Lake District for me is one of the most underrated destinations in the whole of the UK, but that is what keeps it so quiet, so let’s just keep it between ourselves. The Lake District is simply spectacular, it offers some of the finest natural beauty which you are likely to see, complete with mountains, crags, caves and of course, lakes. There is more to the Lake District that just nature however, and the towns and villages set within the landscape are just as endearing as the backdrop which they have.

Northumberland

As long as you don’t mind a bit of chilly wind and cold mornings, Northumberland is one of the most beautiful places in the UK and the perfect place to camp out for a weekend or more. If this place had some sun once in a while then the beaches here would be classed amongst the very finest in Europe, we may not have the sun, but that takes nothing away from these beautiful sandy beaches. Throughout the Northumberland coastline you can explore castles and seaside towns, old lighthouses and miles upon miles of seemingly untouched woodland. There is so much to do in this northeastern county, and I cannot recommend it enough if you are looking for a cool place to spend your camping trip.
