If you are heading to the fantastic tourist destination on Marrakech then you are in for a real treat, this superb destination is home to some of the best sites you will ever see on your holidays. If you go to Marrakech riad then you will have a number of great hotels to choose from, there is something there to suit every budget. Make sure you do your research and read the reviews of other fellow travellers that have been fortunate enough to visit.
When I first went I learnt some great little tips, I wish I had known them before I landed in Marrakech! So to help all you lovely people that will be heading there soon I have put the most useful advice in the list below, they will make sure that you are well prepared for your trip!
If you need to change your currency when you arrive at the airport then don’t go to the first place that you see! The first exchange counter has quite bad rates and you will get much better rates if you walk on a little and look for the rest. There is also an ATM there for you to withdraw money – before you leave check with your bank about the fees that you will incur for overseas withdrawals because it might work out better to bring cash with you.
When you are walking through the markets I think it is is good to shop around. So, ask for a price at one shop then keep strolling down and ask the price for the same item in another because this will give you a good indicator of how good a deal you are being offered.
Sometimes when you are on holiday you don’t want to be constantly haggling over taxi fares. I found it much easy, and a much better experience, to hop on board the local buses. They are a great way to travel, you will meet new friends along the way and spend a fraction of the price a taxi would cost you. Local transport is always the way to go because you feel like you are really making an effort to immerse yourself in the local culture.
I am sure that you will have a fantastic time, if ever you are unsure about something then all you have to do is ask one of the locals for help. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming that I never had a problem! Enjoy your trip!
